Annual Shoe Drive and St. Nicholas Day
We also invite you to bring a pair of NEW children’s gym style shoes to the market. We are donating to the Shoes For St. Nicholas chapter of Shoes That Fit. Monetary donations accepted as well. St. Nicholas Day, celebrated on December 6th, honors the 4th-century Christian bishop known for his generosity and compassion. St. Nicholas was famous for secret gift-giving and helping the poor. In Europe, children leave out shoes or stockings the night before to find small treats or gifts in the morning.. St. Nicholas is our mascot of the market and our chairman of the shoe drive.
